An unexpected side effect of the 2010 flooding in parts of Sindh, Pakistan, was that millions of spiders climbed up into the trees to escape the rising flood waters; because of the scale of the flooding and the fact that the water took so long to recede, many trees became cocooned in spiderwebs. People in the area had never seen this phenomenon before.

Remind me not to go anywhere near a place after a flood - especially Pakistan.

Amazing.

Pakistan hit by US missile

from United Press International:

U.S. drone kills 15 in Pakistan

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan, Jan. 17 (UPI) — A missile attack from an unmanned U.S. plane Sunday killed at least 15 militants in Pakistan’s North Waziristan, military officials said.

The target was a militant compound in the Shaktoi area near Miranshah, Geo TV reported.

The death toll was expected to rise as rubble from the compound was cleared, local officials said.

An unmanned U.S. drone shelled a hideout in the same area Jan. 14.

The U.S. military has conducted dozens of missile strikes in northwestern Pakistan during the past year. Military officials have said they targeted militants, while local officials claimed the attacks killed innocent civilians.
